I became interested in Alternative Health in 1982 after being inflicted with Arthritis in my hands, neck and shoulders. I decided that all aspects of mind, body and spirit had to be addressed, and this was the beginning of my Wholistic studies.
I began studying Nutrition, for many of our aches and pains are caused by too much acid within our diets. By looking inside and outside our physical body I realized that massage was also very important.
I opened my own business, Body Therapy, in Geraldton in 1990 with the main therapy of massage, studying Deep-tissue, Chinese, Thai and Sports massage techniques, to name a few, from there the business grew to incorporate many therapies. I also studied over a period of years Reflexology, Shiatsu, Jin Do Shin, Bowen Therapy, and Acupressure Techniques.
In 1992 I completed Touch for Health, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), and Australian Flower Essence, these therapies touching on the Mind and giving me an understanding of human behaviour.
In 1993, Reiki became a part of my life and work and in 1996, I become the first Usui Reiki Master/Teacher in Geraldton. Reiki has shown me the importance of awareness, unconditional love, acceptance, expectations, respect, trust and above all understanding myself and others and of life.
This led me to studying, Wholistic Counselling, Stress Management, Personal and Spiritual Healing and Human Behaviour, so that I may help myself and others on their journey through life.
My husband of 23 years committed suicide in 1994, and with Spirits gentle nurturing, I continued on my journey of self-discovery. Searching within me for the strength to carry on supporting my children and live the life I was meant to.
In 1998 I closed my business and worked from home, while undertaking further studies, understanding the Mind, and how it can make us, or break us.
Our mindset has a big part in our health, when we choose to lean towards being positive in our daily lives, and positive in our emotional reactions we lead healthier, happier lives.
When our mindset is negative, things just don’t go right for us, we lose our self-esteem, self-worth and what direction to take. This is the time to stop and look into ourselves, and make the choice.
We all make choices each day, in everything thing we do, a choice is made, and our choice can become a habit. It only takes a couple of days for a habit to manifest, but at least 21 days of conscious thought to change that habit. Our physical health is eventually affected by our thought patterns, as the mind controls, remembering everything is energy, moving at different vibrations
We as individuals can make a difference to our overall health and well-being, and start living a happier life. Our spiritual side is also important, I’m not talking about religion, it is the inner you, the spirit of self. The basis of all, for to be Spiritual, is to be aware of yourself, others and the whole environment around you, and interacting with unconditional love and compassion. With Mind, Body and Spirit being in balance it becomes part of our well-being.
In 1999 I became a Karuna Reiki® Master/Teacher, which helps to heal on a deeper level. Helping to develop compassion, communication, improving learning ability, helps to heal co-dependence , insomnia, past life issues, karmic issues, shadow self, sexual and physical abuse issues, to name a few. This then lead me to become a Spiritual Counsellor/Healer.
Through my experiences in life, such as sudden loss of my father, mental abuse, migraines, arthritis, I battled depression because of no self-worth and no self-confidence, the loss of my husband through suicide.
I have experienced emotional and physical pain over many years, and have been able to manage this pain through many alternative ways. Another challenge came along in the way of Ross River Virus which I found Reiki of self, very beneficial. Therapeutic massage, meditation, regular exercise, yoga, Somatics and plenty of Theta healing, have also been a big part of my life.
I have the passion, knowledge, compassion, empathy and understanding to be able to help yourself or others.
Thank you for your time. Erica Dimock
